    Unfortunately, when we set this date we were not aware of that it clashes with the refugees rally. It has proved difficult to to change the date, but we hope that those of you attending the rally will join us mid-afternoon for the second half.

  • VCAN: half day workshop on climate emergency campaigning

    Set up from 12.30pm, event from 1pm – 4.30pm with a half-hour break for networking.
    We are hoping to make it a larger than usual event which helps build our capacity for climate emergency campaigning.
    So please save the date and start inviting people who might be interested.

    2. Why is emergency scale action necessary? Presentation and discussion. David Spratt (30 mins) (1.10pm – 1.40pm)
    3. What is climate emergency campaigning? (50 mins) (1.40pm – 2.30pm)
    4. Presentation: Jane Morton (5 mins) What is emergency mode?
    5. Presentation: Philip Sutton (5 mins) Some examples from history of declaration of emergency or state of emergency.
    6. Presentation: Luke Taylor (5 mins) [Title?]
    7. Large group discussion: What is climate emergency campaigning

      i.      Is it reinforcing and building accurate description of the climate science within all climate campaigns?
      ii.      Is it campaigning for the declaration of a climate emergency?
      iii.     Is it campaigning for a massive emergency-speed mobilisation?                             iv.     Is it all of the above?
      v.      Is it something else? Something additional to the above?
    8. Small group discussion: Does your group do climate emergency campaigning? Which type? If not why not? If so how is it going? Could you do more or it?

    4. Next steps. World café style breakout groups (3.30pm – 4.00pm)
      A leader for each table takes two minutes to describe the focus of each table. All of the tables focus on next steps to advance an aspect of climate emergencycampaigning.
    5. Report-back, reflection and conclusion (4.00pm – 4.30pm)
